Booking Terms & Important Information

A few important details to help make your Riverhide stay safe, peaceful and well organised. Riverhide is a private exclusive-use villa in a natural farm and river setting, and these notes help us care for the home, the property and our guests.

Booking confirmation

A booking enquiry is not a confirmed booking until Riverhide has confirmed availability and the required deposit has been received.

Once payment has been received and confirmed, your dates will be secured and the booking details will be confirmed.

Deposit and balance payment

A 50% deposit is required to secure a direct booking.

The balance is payable before arrival and must be settled before check-in. Card payment may be available at check-in by arrangement, but the booking balance remains due before guests enter the villa.

Cancellation policy

  • 30 days or more before arrival: full refund.
  • 14 to 30 days before arrival: 50% refund.
  • Within 14 days of arrival: non-refundable.

Peak periods, long weekends, public holidays or special dates may have stricter cancellation terms, which will be confirmed on the quote or invoice where applicable.

Check-in and check-out

Check-in is from 14:00, and check-out is by 10:00.

Please message us when you are about 20–30 minutes away from Riverhide, so that we can be ready to welcome you on arrival.

Exclusive-use villa

Riverhide is rented as a private exclusive-use villa. Only registered guests included in the booking may stay at or use the property.

Day visitors, extra guests or gatherings are not permitted unless arranged and approved by Riverhide in advance.

Peaceful stays

Riverhide is a quiet private villa and is best suited to peaceful family stays, small groups and guests wanting a relaxed farm and river setting.

Parties, events, bachelor or bachelorette groups, and party-focused gatherings are not permitted.

Pets

Unfortunately, Riverhide is not pet-friendly.

Smoking

Riverhide is a non-smoking villa. Smoking is not permitted inside the home.

If additional cleaning is required to remove smoke odours, marks or stains, an extra cleaning fee may be charged.

Water, river and outdoor safety

Riverhide is set in a natural farm and river environment. Guests are asked to take care around the ponds, river area, jacuzzi, trails and outdoor spaces.

The ponds around the house are not fenced or protected, and the jacuzzi is not netted or child-protected. Children must be supervised at all times.

Swimming, kayaking, fishing, hiking and cycling are at guests’ own risk.

Kayaks may only be used when conditions are safe. Riverhide may decline kayak use during high river levels, flooding, strong winds, poor weather or any other unsafe conditions.

Kayaks and fishing equipment

If kayaks are used, they must be taken out of the water and placed safely back on the riverbank or edge after use. They must not be left floating in the river or unattended in the water.

Fishing rods and equipment must be returned to the house after use and may not be left at the river.

Farm trails and gates

Guests are welcome to enjoy the farm trails and outdoor spaces responsibly.

If guests use farm access gates, gates must be closed and locked again after use.

Villa security

The villa must be locked whenever guests leave the property or are away from the house.

Fireplace, indoor braai and firewood safety

Please use the fireplace and indoor braai with care. If you go to bed or leave the room while the fireplace is still warm, please place the safety grid or screen in front of the fireplace.

If you notice any smoke smell, unusual ash, smoke movement, or anything that does not seem right, please let us know as soon as possible. The fireplaces are designed to draw properly, so a smoke smell inside the house is usually not expected and may simply be caused by a draft.

In windy conditions, please keep the door between the braai room and the main house closed, as this can help prevent smoke from being pulled into the house.

Please report any fireplace, braai or smoke-related issue immediately so that we can assist before it affects the house.

Firewood and burning wood must only be used in the designated fireplace and braai areas. Please do not move burning wood through the house or from one braai or fireplace area to another.

Jacuzzi use

The jacuzzi must be used responsibly and children must be supervised at all times.

When heating the jacuzzi or keeping it warm, please keep the cover on while it is not in use. Please remove the cover fully while using the jacuzzi, and avoid using glass in or near the jacuzzi area.

Breakages and maintenance

Please treat Riverhide with the same care you would give to a private home.

If anything is damaged, broken, leaking, not working or needs attention, please let us know as soon as possible. We would much rather know early so that we can assist quickly.
